MARYVILLE, Tenn. (July 10) Blount Motorsports drivers Donald McIntosh and Tommy Kerr were looking forward to continuing their success at Smoky Mountain Speedway in the Lucas Oil Mountain Moonshine Classic Saturday night, but a 20 and 21st place finish was not what they had in mind.

McIntosh finished fourth in the second heat with Kerr right behind him in fifth. McIntosh would transfer to the A-Main and Kerr to the first B-Main. Kerr would finish second and start 19th on the grid.

“It seems like when we race with the Lucas guys we are always too loose. This time we tightened the cars up and we were too tight all night long,” said David Bryant. “Donald and Tommy did a good job with what they had, but when you start way back like they did you are pretty much done for the night.

If anyone is looking to place the blame for this one, it all goes to the crew chief.”

The one good thing about the whole deal was that both cars came through unscathed and with a week of tweaking at the shop will be ready for the Southern Nationals that start this Saturday at Wythe Raceway.

“There is a love-hate relationship when it comes to the Southern Nationals. You have a lot of racing in a short period of time and that can be really good for the team. But in the same breath it is hot, involves a lot of traveling and can be and usually is a real grind,” concluded Bryant.
