MARYVILLE, Tenn. (Mar. 20) Donald drove the Blount Motorsports Stowers Cat sponsored Rocket to a fifth place finish in the season opening Southern Nationals Bonus Series event at Boyd’s Speedway Saturday night.

Donald qualified second in the second group, won the third heat, started fourth and finished fifth in the 40-lap feature event.

“We had a good car and even with the track being rough we had a good run going, until a lineup call after a caution upset things a bit and we finished fifth,” said Bryant. “All things considered it could have been a whole lot worse.”

Donald admitted the poor officiating not only affected his driving, but where he finished.

“I was running in third and sticking my nose under Mike Marlar a bit when a caution came out. When they lined us back up they put Dale McDowell ahead of me in third,” said Donald. “As McDowell had never been ahead of me until after the caution came out I got a bit upset and that didn’t help things for the rest of the race.

I am not saying we would have won the race or anything like that, but to have a spot taken away from you whether it is third or 15th because of a bad call will get you a little upset.”

Coming up next  is a Spring Nationals Double Header at Senoia Raceway next Friday and Saturday.
