MARYVILLE, Tenn. (June 19) Donald continued his winning ways as he held off Skip Arp to notch his career first Southern All Star win at Smokey Mountain Speedway on Saturday night.

Donald set fast time, started outside front row and slid by pole sitter Chris Ferguson on the 22nd circuit for the lead in the 40-lap event. He was able to work lapped traffic and keep Arp behind him to the checkered flag.

“Track was great. It kept changing and it was almost better not to be the leader so I could see what Chris (Ferguson) was getting into out there,” grinned Donald. “David and Taylor  gave me a great race car and I am really happy to be able to drive it and get the win.”

“We didn’t want to run the motor we ran at Eldora until we go over it, so we ran the little motor. Probably not the best idea, but it worked out all right,” said David. “The car, driver and everyone on the team are all working well together and things are starting to come together.”

The team heads for Kentucky this weekend with Southern National Bonus Races on Friday night at Ponderosa Speedway on Friday night and Florence Speedway on Saturday night.
