MARYVILLE, Tenn. (Feb. 24) After Volusia Speedway Park cancelled the second consecutive night of racing due to heavy rain, Donald and the Blount Motorsports team slid out of the pits and headed home to Tennessee.

The rain that halted racing and turned the pits into a muddy nightmare seemed to be a fitting end to a less than productive Florida trip for the BMS team.

“You never know how these trips are going to work out and we were not pleased with how they did work out this year,” said David. “There were times that we were good and it looked like we had things going in the right direction, but those were short lived.”

The three nights at Volusia are a prime example of how things worked out for the team in Georgia and Florida.

“The first night at Volusia the car was tight and we just couldn’t get going. We made changes, got it better in the B-main and then ran over something and shredded the right rear. We didn’t make the show,” continued David. “Second night we didn’t qualify well, started on the back row. Donald got things going, passed a bunch of cars, but it didn’t show because we got down a lap early. We were happy with the car and looking forward to the next night. Then the rains came.”

After watching it rain and the mud in the pits continue to build when the track canceled the second consecutive night of racing the team decided it was time to head to the house.

“If we can get enough of the mud off the car, the hauler and the equipment we will do a little practice at 411 tonight and race there Saturday night,” concluded David as he stood with his hand over his knee showing how deep the mud was in the pits at Volusia.
