MARYVILLE, Tenn. (May 1) Racing is full of ups and downs and this past weekend Blount Motorsports with Donald McIntosh behind the wheel on Friday night was on the up side. Saturday night with McIntosh and Tommy Kerry wheeling the Cherokee Millwright sponsored Rockets it was on the down side.
Friday night for the Scott Sexton Memorial at Volunteer McIntosh qualified well, finished second in the fourth heat started eight on the grid. He finished sixth.
“The car and driver were good and we had a good run going until with 10 laps to go the right rear started going flat. We were running fourth, tire went down, car tightened up and we ended up finishing sixth,” said David Bryant.
On Saturday night the scene shifted to Smoky Mountain Speedway for the SAS race with both McIntosh and Kerr vying to make the field. Both did not qualify well and made the race through the B-mains with McIntosh starting 17th and Kerr 21st.
“When you start that far back it is going to be a long night and that is what it was, a long night,” continued Bryant. “Tommy got going pretty good, but lost his brakes and ended up finishing 19th. Donald, whose engine got hot, finished 22nd after pulling into the pits.”
This weeks racing will consist of the rerun of the snowed out Tip Off Classic at Smoky Mountain on Thursday night and the Lucas Oil event at Tazewell on Friday night.
