MARYVILLE, Tenn. (Apr. 17) Not every race or racing weekend is going to be a good one and after a couple of good racing weekends Donald and the Blount Motorsports Team had a not so good one with two eighth place finishes.
On Friday night for the Spring National event at Ponderosa Speedway Donald started the Massey Electric sponsored entry sixth and came home with an eighth place finish.
“Bottom line is we were not much good Friday night,” said David. “We knew we had a problem getting the car where we wanted it and as the eighth place finish showed we never really got a handle on it.”
After the race they ran some laps and thought they might have figured some things out as they headed north to Saturdays Spring Nationals event at Florence Speedway.
When the team was going over the car before Saturday’s race they found a problem with the engine and had to go to the backup car. McIntosh started 14th and came home with another eighth place finish.
“On Saturday we found a couple questionable things with the engine in the car we ran Friday night and decided to park it until we could check further. What we found had nothing to do with Friday night’s disappointment, but we had to go to the backup car and that didn’t help matters,” continued David. “We did have a better race car on Saturday night, but when you start where we did your finish isn’t going to be what you had in mind.”
This coming weekend will see McIntosh and the BMS Team head for two more Spring National events. The first will be at Crossville Speedway on Friday night and the second at Volunteer Speedway on Saturday night.
