MARYVILLE, Tenn. (June 17) While the wins continue to be illusive, Blount Motorsports still had a successful weekend as they recorded a second, third and fourth place finishes in two Southern All Star events.

On Friday Billy Ogle Jr. was fourth in the Scott Sexton Memorial at Volunteer Speedway. He had been running third when the event was suspended on lap 17 in the first attempt.

“When you start a race at lap 17 it is hard to get into any sort of groove or rhythm for both the driver and the team,” said David Bryant. “We restarted in third and finished in fourth and that sums it up.”

On Saturday night the scene shifted to the SAS Big Daddy 500 at Smoky Mountain Speedway.  Ogle would finish second team mate Tommy Kerr right behind him in third.

“Tommy (Kerr) had the best handling car at The Mountain Saturday night, but he was down on power. Billy had the power, but didn’t have handling,” continued Bryant. “For the Lucas show at Wythe Raceway this Saturday we are going to put the Vic Hill motor in Kerr’s car. That way we will have plenty of power and a good handling car for the event.”

Bryant went on to say that Ogle is still learning how to handle the power in the new Vic Hill engines. With more power than they had in their previous engine program it takes a whole different approach to managing the gas pedal.

While they prepare the car for the Lucas Oil race the crew is also getting the new Rocket Chassis ready for the SRRS Speedweek event at The Mountain. The new car will sport a new Vic Hill engine when it makes its debut in two weeks.
