MARYVILLE, Tenn. (May 18) Tommy and the Blount Motorsport Team enjoyed a strong run in the Spring Spectacular at 411 Motor Speedway.
Tommy qualified and started third on the grid. Early in the race he and Cory Hedgecock battled for second and after leader David Crabtree pitted on lap 31 with mechanical problems Tommy and Hedgecock battled for the lead in the nine remaining laps.
“Any night you can go out there, be competitive, race for the win and put on a good show is a good night. And when you don’t tear anything up it becomes a very good night,” said David with a grin and a shrug. “We did all of that and had a very good night.”
One time Tommy was able to take the lead, but a caution came out and they went back to the previous lap.
“We had a good race, were in contention all night, didn’t tear anything up so all in all it was a good outing,” said Tommy who is running part time and will drive about 20 races this year.
After doing some CNC training in Pennsylvania this past weekend Donald will be back behind the wheel for the three Spring National races coming up over the Memorial Weekend. They will race at Boyd’s on Friday night, Dixie Saturday night and Rome on Sunday.
