MARYVILLE, Tenn. (Oct 20) For Tommy Kerr and the BlountMotorsports team it has been feast or famine in recent months. Going intoSaturday night’s Grant Adcox Memorial at Cleveland Speedway three of the lastfour races had been ended prematurely by flat tires.

On Saturday night the tires held air, but the left rear axleknocked them out of the feature while they were running second to leader DaleMcDowell.

“You have to take the good with the bad in this business, but getting knocked out of good runs in four of the last five races is gettinghard to take,” said Tommy. “We suffered through a rash of right rear flats onlyto have an axle go Saturday night when we were running second.”

The axle problems sent the car to the pits on the 26th lap of the 40-lap event and relegated Tommy to a tenth place finish. However itis the best the car has run on the tricky third mile oval at Cleveland so allwas not lost.

On Sunday the team headed to their home track, The MountainRaceway Park in Maryville for the Buddy Rogers Memorial, the Advance ThunderSeries season finale. With the point battle settled Kerr and the team had onething on their mind in Maryville and that was to win their series leading sixthfeature.

After qualifying sixth and running fifth in the first dashhe started sixth. Tommy would move up to and finish fourth by the end of the44-lap event.

“We went to Maryville with one thing in mind and that waswinning the race,” continued Tommy, who leads the series with five wins thisseason. “We had a good car and ended up with a fourth place finish. You can’tdo much when the track rubbers up.

The fact that we didn’t have a flat tire or any other badluck was a positive for the afternoon.”

Tommy and The BMS team will take the next weekend off inpreparation for the three World of Outlaw races at the Dirt Track at Lowes onOctober 29 thru November 1. On November 4 and 5 they will be attending the DirtTrack Shock Seminar at Öhlins USA in Hendersonville, NC.
