For Blount Motorsports the 2012 season was a very good one. After a slow start the team continued to improve as the season progressed and they were able to finish strong.

“We know we have everything we need to be a top Dirt Late Model team. We have the drivers, the crew, the equipment, the sponsors and the fans, everything we need, but even with all the components in place there are times you are not going to get the results you desire,” said Larry Garner. “The first part of the season was frustrating because we were qualifying well and finishing well, but didn’t have much to show for it. We had more second place finishes than you can imagine, but just couldn’t seem to find the winner’s circle.”

In a 24 car starting field there are 22 finishes that are worse than finishing second, but finishing second is not winning and winning is what it is all about.

The first win came in late May and it looked like the spell had been broken, but it wasn’t until the second week in August that they recorded their second win of the season. That second win was followed by four consecutive wins including the Lucas Oil Scorcher at Volunteer Speedway.

After the five straight wins the team recorded two more wins and a host of top five finishes to finish out the season.

2012 Blount Motorsports Stats:

Billy Ogle Jr.  44 Races, 7 Wins, 11 Seconds, 28 Top Fives, 38 Top 10s, and 8 Poles

Tommy Kerr 11 Races, 1 Win, 1 Second, 5 Top Fives and 9 Top 10s.

“We knew we had a good year, one that was an improvement over last year, but until the end of the year when we put all the information together we didn’t realize just how good a year it was. It was a very good year for Blount Motorsport,” concluded Garner.

For Blount Motorsports the season will start with the Talladega Short Track Ice Bowl 2013 on January 5 and 6.
