MARYVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 1) Tommy Kerr and the BlountMotorsports Team scored their fourth consecutive Advance Thunder feature winSaturday night at the Mountain Raceway Park. The next night the streak endedwith a second place finish in the Advance Thunder event at Tazewell Speedway.
On Saturday night Tommy would win the fast dash start on thepole and lead the first 13 laps before loosing the lead to Eric Jacobsen.Jacobsen would lead the next 22 laps with Tommy in second. On lap 35 Jacobsenfound the wall and brought out the second caution of the night. Tommy would takeover the lead and take the checkered flag uncontested.
“You want to go out set fast time, lead every lap and winthe race, but things don’t always work that way,” said Tommy. “Tonight our luckwas good and Jacobsen’s wasn’t. A win is a win and It is especially sweet towin at your home track in front of family and friends.”
On Sunday night the Advance Thunder Series and Tommy moved toTazewell Speedway. He led the first 10 laps of the event until he and RickRogers, who was running second got into lapped traffic. Rogers took the leadfrom Kerr and although challenged by Kerr went on to take the win.
“We had a good car and so did Rick (Rogers). Lapped trafficis always a challenge at Tazewell and he worked it a little better than wedid,” said Tommy. “We are not going to win them all and all things considered itcould have been worse than our second place finish.”
“Again I can’t say enough about the team and what adifference there has been since crew chief Gary Winger came on board,”continued Tommy. “Gary, B.J, Kevin, Bobo and the driver are all pulling in thesame direction and it really shows.”
Tommy and the BMS team will pack up and head to EldoraSpeedway this weekend for this years running of the World 100. They were atEldora for The Dream earlier this year and although they didn’t make the fieldthey learned a lot about the track and what it takes to race at the famedhalf-mile oval.
