MARYVILLE, Tenn. (Feb. 2) Donald scored a second place finish in the Cabin Fever 40 at Boyd’s Speedway Saturday night. An untimely caution relegated his pass of leader Riley Hickman and negated the best chance he had to win the event.
Donald qualified his Stowers Cat sponsored Rocket fifth, ran third in the dash and started third on the grid. He was able to pressure Hickman and finally took the lead on the 22nd circuit when Hickman got out of the groove in lapped traffic. The fourth caution of the night came out and McIntosh’s pass for the lead was for naught.
“Donald did an excellent job with the car and the track and if it hadn’t been for the caution after he took the lead he and Hickman would have swapped places at the checkered flag,” said David with a big grin. “Riley Hickman is tough. He did a good job and didn’t make the same mistake twice.”
For Donald, who took over as the driver of Blount Motorsports primary car at the end of the 2014 season, that makes two wins, a second and a fourth in four races.
“We are excited to be able to carry some momentum into the Lucas Oil races at Golden Isles Speedway this Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The team is going real well right now and it will be interesting to see how we do when we go up against O’Neal, Owens, Bloomquist and all of the Lucas bunch,” concluded David.
