MARYVILLE, Tenn. (Apr. 9) The Blount Motorsports team has enjoyed strong runs in the early season races, but has yet to make its first trip to victory lane. Saturday night was no exception with Billy Ogle Jr. running second and Tommy Kerr third in the Southern All Star feature at Tazewell Speedway. With 10 laps to go rear end problems would knock out Kerr and relegate him to an 11th place finish with Ogle holding second to the checkered flag.

The 50-lap event was highlighted by a constant battle between Ogle and eventual winner Chris Madden. Ogle could and did battle side-by-side with Madden for many laps, but was unable to make the pass.

“Madden’s car and our two cars were close and it was just one of those deals where the only way we were going to pass him was to turn him. So we settled for another second and until the rear end went out in Tommy’s car it looked like a second and a third,” said David Bryant. “It was a good, hard and very competitive race, a crowd pleaser for sure,”

This coming weekend will be the second of four weekends of racing in Ray Cook’s Spring Nationals. The first event will be at Tri-County Race Track on Friday night and Smoky Mountain Speedway on Saturday night. In the first two Spring National events at Volunteer Speedway Billy was second and fourth.
