By Bob Appleget MARYVILLE, Tenn. (Jul 28) After trying to get a handle on the new race car without success Donald McIntosh and the BMS Team found success in the 4T normally driven by teammate Tommy Kerr. They scored a second at Rome Speedway on Sunday and backed it up with a second at Tri-County Race Track taking the lead in the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series point chase.

After months of chasing the new car and not being able to get it to respond to changes and have any consistency on the race track. The 4T doesn’t have a big motor so it doesn’t qualify all that well, but it responds to changes and works well in the race.

“We were able to quit thrashing around on the new car and went back to everything we did when we were successful with this car and boy what a difference,” grinned David. “This racing deal is hard enough and when you add a bad race car to it, it becomes a real mess.

It’s nice to be back in the race.”

The car feels and races so much better and we do too,” echoed Donald. This car responds to changes and is consistent during the race. Nice not to have to wonder what car you will be driving on the next lap. Now we need to win one of these things (races).”

The team will wait to decide whether to change to a bigger engine for the last two races at Tazewell and Volunteer after they see how Boyd’s on Thursday and 411 on Friday work out.
