MARYVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 5) After a spat of runner up finishes Billy ended months of frustration when he parked the Blount Motorsports entry in victory lane after winning the SAS Herman Collins/Dewey “Red” Ledford Memorial Saturday night at Volunteer Speedway.
Billy started fifth on the grid, dropped back to seventh on the start and took advantage of three early cautions to move into second behind leader Vic Hill on lap 13 of the 50-lap event. After a heated multi lap battle with leader Hill, Ogle took the lead on lap 34 and went on to record the victory. His first since April 4.
“We really needed that win,” Billy said with a sigh of relief. “The car was great, we had a good race with Vic (Hill) and got the win we have been looking for. This gets us out of that second place rut we have been in and I think we might have learned a few things for the Scorcher coming up in a couple of weeks.”
“The driver done good. The car was good anywhere on the race track and Billy used the whole race track to get the job done,” said David Bryant. “This is just what the team needed to get some momentum going for the rest of the season.”
This Saturday night the team will be at Smoky Mountain with both Billy and Tommy racing in the SRRS event.
