MARYVILLE, Tenn (June 3) Billy started 12th in the Lucas Oil Late Model starting field and motored his way to a fifth place finish at Tazewell Speedway Friday night.
Billy had transmission problems on the second lap of qualifying. After the BMS team switched transmissions he started fourth and finished third in his heat, which put him starting mid-pack in the feature.
“We might have been able to move up one spot, but the track was so rough it was really punishing the car and we thought it was better to settle for fifth,” said David. “We don’t know what happened to the transmission, but we are glad that it didn’t happen the week before when we were sewing up the Spring Nationals Championship.”
The team will take the next weekend off for some family time. Their next race will be the SAS Scott Sexton Memorial at Volunteer Speedway on June 14.
