MARYVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 17) Billy Ogle Jr. and the Blount Motorsports Team continue their winning ways as they picked up their third win in the last five races at Smoky Mountain Speedway Friday night.
Last year Billy and BMS won the next five races after completing Ray Cook’s Southern Nationals and this year they have tallied three wins and two second place finishes.
“It is a combination of things and we seem to get clicking after Cook’s Southern Nationals every year,” said David. “Last year following the Summer Nationals we won five in a row and this year we have won three out of five with two seconds. No telling what the team could do if we got going in April.”
Friday night for the SRRS event at Smoky Mountain Speedway Billy set fast time, started fifth and finished second in the dash and started on the outside from row. He took the lead on the first lap and led the next 34 laps to take the win.
“The car was really good and Billy started the night with a great qualifying run,” continued David.
Tommy didn’t fair as well as he brought an ill handling race car home for a ninth place finish.
“Something is messed up with the suspension or shocks on Tommy’s car. We will get after it this week and get the car tuned up for the SAS King of the Mountain this Saturday night at Smoky Mountain,” concluded David.
