MARYVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 24) Fresh off two regional tour wins Billy Ogle Jr. kept the hot hand as he out dueled Scott Bloomquist to best a strong Lucas Oil Series field in front of a standing room only crowd at Volunteer Speedway Thursday night.

The 50-lap event went caution free as Billy and Bloomquist put on a show for all 11 minutes and 36 second between the green and checkered flags.

“No cautions and although it was a quick race it seemed like it went on forever. I was so focused I didn’t really know where we were as far as the laps went and at first I thought the white flag was a caution flag,” said a very pleased Billy Ogle.

Bloomquist led the first 21 laps before Billy took the lead on lap 22. He would hold that position until Bloomquist retook the lead on lap 38. With four laps to go Billy would retake the lead and go on to take one of the biggest wins of his career.

“When you beat Scott Bloomquist, who is one of the best there is, and the rest of the Lucas Series regulars it is really something. Especially in front of a huge crowd like they had here tonight,” continued Billy who said it was a great feeling to have a lot of the crowd behind him. “I have wanted to get one of these big races for Larry, B.J, David, the whole BMS team, our sponsors and our fans for awhile. Everyone works so hard to give me a good race car and these wins don’t happen all that often which just makes them that much sweeter. This is why we do this.”

Billy was the fastest in the second qualifying group with a time of 12.225 second just a bit behind Bloomquist’s fast time of 12.182. Ogle won the third heat and lined up to start the race outside of Bloomquist on the front row.
