MARYVILLE, Tenn. (July 29) After getting off to a slow start in the Southern Nationals Series Billy and the Blount Motorsports team have had some decent runs that puts them third in the point chase.
After loosing their primary power plant and posting a 21st place finish in the second race of the 10 race Southern Nationals Series the BMS team was looking at an up hill battle just to keep the leaders in sight. With two top fives and four top 10 finishes in the next four events things look a whole lot better going into the final four series events.
“After loosing the new engine in the second race we are down on power and consequently we are not running great. But we aren’t running all that bad either,” said David. “The team is working well together and we will have to see what happens in these next four races.”
With the first of the final four races being at Boyd’s Speedway, which is not a power track, and the next three at tracks the team usually does well, it’s not over until it’s over.
“We set our sights on winning the Southern National Championship and that is not out of the question, but right now it is a real long shot,” said Billy. “We have gotten better in each race and are coming to four tracks where we run well so you never know what can or will happen.”
Tonight it is Boyd’s Speedway and after a night off the final three races will be Duck River on Thursday, Smoky Mountain on Friday and Tazewell on Saturday.
