MARYVILLE, Tenn. (Jun 21) Donald set fast time and won and Tommy finished fourth in the Ultimate Big Daddy 500 at Smoky Mountain Speedway Saturday night as Blount Motorsports ruled another Smoky Mountain Ultimate.

Donald was fast qualifier as he toured the 4/10-mile oval in 16.980 seconds. Starting on the pole he would battle with early leader Chris Ferguson and when Ferguson faltered Donald took the lead and led the remaining laps for his fifth win of the season.

“Hate it that Chris (Ferguson) had problems, but we had an awesome race car tonight,” said Donald who won his second Smoky Mountain feature of the season. “Air is so important at this track and being out front in the clean air really helped.”

Tommy started eighteenth and powered his way to a fourth place finish.

“It wasn’t the one/two finish we had in the last Ultimate race here at The Mountain, but it was close. We passed a lot of cars and had some help from the big wreck, but when you start that far back you need all the help you can get,” grinned Tommy.

The team will head to Richmond Raceway in Richmond KY this weekend for the SNBS 12th Annual Iron-Man Classic. They plan to practice Friday night for Saturday night’s race.
