MARYVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 3) With a third consecutive strong outing the Blount Motorsports team is feeling good about the remainder of the season and is looking forward to the upcoming fall specials.
Saturday night Billy Ogle Jr. was fast qualifier, led a large portion of the 54 lap Michael Head Jr. Memorial event at Talladega Short Track. However when the track slicked off William Thomas, who had battled for the lead with Ogle, was able to take the lead and the win. Tim Busha would pass Ogle late moving him to a third place finish.
Tommy Kerr started tenth and raced his way to fourth. He used more of his car getting into the top five and when things got slick he dropped back for an eleventh place finish.
“We had a great car and another good run, but when the track gets real slick the guys with the spec motors and the 12″ spoilers, like William (Thomas) and Tim (Busha) have the advantage,” said Ogle. “We are in a tight battle with William for the Southern All Star point championship. He is a tough competitor and we will do the best we can with what we have the rest of the way.”
This Saturday the team heads to Cleveland Speedway for the Budweiser Jean Johnson Memorial.
