MARYVILLE, Tenn. (July 20) Halfway through the 2010 Southern National schedule Tommy and the Blount Motorsports Team are in third place in the series points. They will race at East Alabama Motor Speedway tonight and Swainsboro Speedway Wednesday night before heading back to the Volunteer state for the last three races of the 10 race series.

In the first five races, Tommy and the team have one top five and two top 10 finishes. Rain won the opening event at Wythe Raceway and header problems relegated them to a 22nd place finish at Screven Speedway.

“It hasn’t been real pretty, but we have managed to stay within striking distance of the championship,” said Tommy the 2009 Southern Nationals Champion. “If it hadn’t been for the header problems at Screven we would be in pretty good shape, but with five races to go anything can happen and probably will.”

While running the races in South Carolina and Georgia the team has been working out of Clint Smith’s shop in Senoia, GA.

“Clint, his crew and family have been a big help. We basically have been racing out of his shop for these last races and it has made all the difference in the world. When the series shifts to Tennessee or anytime he is in the Knoxville area we will be happy to return the favor,” concluded Tommy.

Blount Motorsports enjoys sponsorship from Blount Excavating, Stowers (CAT) Machinery Corp., LubriCorp, Explosive Specialists, Arnold Trucking, Turner Industrial Supply, GEOServices, Wine and Spirits Cellar and Insurance Partners.

They race a Rocket chassis with power from Custom Race Engines with Dyer’s Top Rods. The shocks are from Öhlins, chassis and suspension components from TWM, brake components from Hawk Performance, Sunoco Race Fuel from Bearden Oil and tires from Hoosier Racing Tires.
