MARYVILLE, Tenn. (Nov. 27) In his first race with Blount Motorsports Casey, the fourth driver in the 12 year history of BMS, was the fastest in the first group, started on the pole and finished second in the Leftover 50 at 411 Motor Speedway Saturday afternoon.

With Casey getting to know the crew, driving a Rocket XR1 for the first time and it was only his second time at 411 it was a good run.

“I thought everything went well for the first time out. The car was a tick off. We need to get the car more competitive and that will come,” said David. “Casey is getting to know the team members, learning how we do things and learning a new chassis. He is a good racer all we need to do is get a better car under him.”

“It went well for the first time out. I was really pleased with how David, Taylor and everyone goes about their business,” said Casey. “Jackie (Boggs) was a bit better than we were and you hate to finish second, but we will take the second and build on it. Everything looks and feels good.”

Not only was it the first time out for Casey in a Rocket XR1 it was a brand spanking new never raced XR1. In Friday’s practice he slowed to avoid another car and the third car behind him peeled off the left side sheet metal.

“Thankfully there wasn’t any damage other than sheet metal. David and the boys put things back together and after that Casey didn’t have to worry about dinging the new car,” said Larry Garner. “We are really pleased with how things went and are excited and looking forward to the 2018 season.”
