MARYVILLE, Tenn. (Oct. 1) For Casey the Lucas Oil Dixie Shootout and the Lucas Oil Rome Showdown were as different as night and day. At Dixie Casey and the Blount Motorsports team had a good performance running as high as fourth and finishing sixth. At Rome mechanical problems sidelined the car and they were scored 24th when they never completed a lap.

Coming off their second and biggest win of the season, the Tarheel 50, on Friday night Casey and the BMS team followed up with a good showing in the Shootout at Dixie on Saturday night.

“Casey started seventh, worked his way to fourth and finished sixth at Dixie. It was a good performance in a good field of cars,” said David.

On Sunday at Rome for the Showdown something broke in the engine and instead of breaking out the backup car and starting dead last, they decided to line it up, take the tow money and watch the race.

“The motor was lapped out and with nothing on the line as far as points and stuff like that we decided to not roll out the backup car. We got our tow money and called it a night,” continued David. “It is never an easy decision to decide not to race, but in the same breath you don’t want to throw good money after bad.”

The next race will be the SAS Mountain Fall Classis this coming Saturday at Smoky Mountain.
