MARYVILLE, Tenn. (Apr. 8) Donald brought the Blount Motorsports Rocket home sixth in the Ultimate Spring Thaw at Volunteer on Thursday and followed that up with a strong run and a second place finish in the Lucas Oil Series event at 411 Motor Speedway on Friday night.

On Thursday night at Volunteer McIntosh started 10th ran as high as fifth and ended up sixth when the checkered flag fell on the 50-lap Ultimate Southeast Super Late Model Series sanctioned event.

“Car was good, but we were never able to get everything to click like we wanted,” said David. “We didn’t qualify well, started 10th and starting mid-pack with today’s competitors doesn’t bode well for a good finish.”

On Friday night everything clicked with McIntosh setting fast time in the second group, finishing second in the third heat and started sixth and finished second in the feature.

“Car was working up high and although that is not my favorite place to race you go where the car needs to be,” said Donald. “We were one of the two cars in the field with a hard right rear tire and the cautions, especially the two late ones that really hurt. We needed a long green run.”

One of the highlights of the race was the battle between Donald and Jimmy Owens for the second spot.

“Racing with Jimmy was really fun. We raced each other clean and hopefully the fans enjoyed it as much as we did. We are getting there and everything is coming together just at the right time,” concluded Donald.

Another Spring Nationals doubleheader coming up this weekend. The first is at Clay Valley Speedway in Coeburn, VA on Friday night and the second at Smoky Mountain Speedway on Saturday night.
