MARYVILLE Tenn. (July 22) After being wrecked early in the Rebel Yell at Screven on Saturday Donald rebounded at Rome where he was fast qualifier and finished fifth in the feature on Sunday
After the races at Toccoa and Senoia were rained out Screven’s Rebel Yell was the next on the Southern Nationals schedule. Starting sixth he was run over on the sixth lap of the feature. The wreck took out lots of sheet metal, the drive shaft and the J bar and he spent the remainder of the race watching from the pits. He was scored 19th in the final rundown.
“It’s all part of it and it wasn’t intentional so we put it back together and moved on,” said David. “We are still not where we want to be and between the flats and the wreck we really haven’t had much chance of getting any closer.”
On Sunday at Rome Donald was fast qualifier, started on the outside front row and finished fifth.
“We’ve got the qualifying and heat racing figured out, but when the track gets slick we are not where we want and or need to be,” concluded David.
The next event will be at Tri-County Race Track in Brasstown, NC tomorrow night. After taking Wednesday off the final three races of the series, Crossville, 411 and Tazewell will finish up this years Southern Nationals Series.
