MARYVILLE, Tenn. (July 5) Donald started and finished fifth in the Southern Nationals Bonus Series event at Tazewell Speedway Sunday evening.
Donald qualified early and was unable to take of advantage of a faster track later in qualifying. He won the first heat, started fifth and finished fifth in the feature. Vic Hill led from flag-to-flag and the top seven finished where they started on the ultra fast third mile dirt oval.
“There wasn’t any passing up front. Donald stayed out of trouble and finished where he started, fifth,” said David. “Luck of the draw. If we would have qualified later we would have qualified better and the way things shook out would have finished better.”
Last week BMS went to Shinnston WV and picked up a new Rocket XR1 chassis.
“We won’t have time before the Southern Nationals to get the new XR1 together. We will use our two existing XR1s, one with a new Vic Hill power plant, in 11 races of the Southern Nationals ,” concluded Bryant.
Between now and the start of the Southern Nationals on July 15, Donald and Tommy will race the Lucas Oil Mountain Moonshine Classic at Smoky Mountain Speedway on Saturday July 8.
