MARYVILLE, Tenn. (Jan 14) For Donald it was his first Ice Bowl experience and the young Blount Motorsports driver, who finished fourth, it was a good one.

Donald was third fastest qualifier, won the third heat and started third on the grid and finished the 50-lap event fourth.

“We had a good fast race car. We qualified well, won our heat, started third and ran third for 49 laps before loosing a position on the last lap,” commented crew chief David. “Racing on a rubbered down one groove race track was all new to Donald and all things considered it was a good weekend.”

On the white flag lap things got a little interesting when the second place car of William Thomas slowed unexpectedly coming off turn two.

Racing on a one-groove race track when you are running in the rubber is frustrating. On the last lap I had a good run on William (Thomas) and he let off a little early off of two. I had to get on the brakes hard and Billy (Ogle) got by,” said Donald. “I got back under Billy on the back straight and going into turn three we were both wanting the bottom. It ended up rough. I apologize to Billy. I don’t like racing like that.”

The team will take the next couple of weeks to get everything ready for the Cabin Fever 40 at Boyd’s and then the Lucas Oil Super Bowl of Racing at Golden Isles.
