MARYVILLE, Tenn. (Mar 23) Donald and the Blount Motorsports Team had a good weekend on the dirt at Bristol Motor Speedway. They posted an eleventh and a sixth place finish, but more importantly they only lost a radiator, a couple of fan blades and a pile of tires while coming home with an undamaged race car.

On Friday night they lost a radiator and ended up with one lap of qualifying they made the race. Starting 22nd after finishing third in the second consi. McIntosh was able to move up 11 places for an 11th place finish.

“After the radiator deal put us behind in qualifying Donald started 22nd and was able to salvage an 11th place finish,” said David “Between the speeds they were going, and the track conditions it was treacherous. It was spooky.”

On Saturday night McIntosh came away with three fours. He qualified fourth, won the fourth heat and started fourth in the feature. He turned in a sixth place finish in the 40-lap feature.

“We had a good car both nights. I am really pleased to have run well and that we had as good of a showing as we did,” said Donald. “Qualifying Saturday night I ran the first lap like a dirt car and the second like an asphalt car. The second lap was a second faster.”

Donald was glad to leave Bristol after the two races with the only damage to the car being the aforementioned radiator, fan blades and pile of tires.

I did the math and we were averaging over 150 mph around the track and there were a number of cars faster than we were. Sorry, but these cars are not made to do that. Yeah, I was really relieved to get home with the car and myself in one piece and thankful I don’t have to go back,” concluded Donald.

Next event for BMS is the Spring Nationals opener at I-75 Raceway on Saturday night.
