MARYVILLE, Tenn. (June 1) Donald  piloted the Blount Motorsports Tennessee RV/Massey Electric sponsored Rocket chassis to a tenth place finish in the Lucas Oil Toyota of Knoxville 50 at Tazewell Speedway Saturday night.

Finishing fifth in the first heat he started 17th on the grid, stayed out of trouble and scored a top 10 finish.

“You go to Tazewell prepared for an aggressive race track and when it is not aggressive, like on Friday night, we got a little behind and it showed,” said David. “You don’t want to get behind at any race, but when you are racing with these guys on the Lucas deal it will really bite you.”

Donald, who in his first three trips to the high-banked speed bowl had been plagued by mechanical problems and hadn’t finished a race. He went into his fourth outing at Tazewell looking for a finish.

“We were just a little bit off Friday night. Last weekend we were 100%, Friday about 90% and when you get race with Lucas you need to be at least 110%,” said Donald. “We got that finish we were looking for, didn’t tear up the car so we have something to work with and we will be better when we go back there later in the season.”

With The Late Model Dream Weekend at Eldora Speedway this weekend the BMS team will take the weekend off. Plans call for at least one, but more likely two test sessions as they work on a number of things getting ready for the up coming heart of the season. The next race will be the Ultimate event at 411 on June 12th.
