MARYVILLE, Tenn. (May 20) Donald McIntosh and the Blount Motorsports Team won Spring Nationals races at Tri-County Race Track on Thursday night and Crossville Speedway on Friday Night for their first two wins of the season.
After two consecutive weekends of racing were rained out McIntosh and BMS got back in the swing of things when the skies cleared with two consecutive Spring Nationals victories.
“Everything started to click after our second place finish in the Lucas Oil race at 411. Donald, Eric and I are all on the same page, we know what the car needs and the car has been really good,” said BMS crew chief David Bryant. “We had a great car, a competitive car, all weekend and a good shot at a third win on Saturday before the right rear went flat.”
On Saturday at Thunderhill Raceway Park for the third consecutive Spring Nationals event of the weekend McIntosh started on the front row with point leader Dale McDowell and was running second around the halfway point when the right rear went down. He pitted and was able to come back to finish ninth.
“Man what a great car and a great weekend. We are running better now than when we had that hot streak back in 2017,” said McIntosh. “It took awhile to get things working the way we wanted them too, but David, Eric and I are working well together. We are looking forward to races over Memorial Weekend and the rest of the season. And there is still a lot of season left.”
Coming up are the final three Spring Nationals events over the Memorial Weekend, Saturday night at Dixie Speedway, Sunday at Rome Speedway and Memorial Day at 411 Motor Speedway.
“David, Donald and Eric have put in a lot of hard work and it is starting to pay off,” said team owner Larry Garner. “We are 18 points behind Spring Nationals point leader Dale McDowell with three races to go. Dale is a tough competitor with a good solid team and we run well at the upcoming tracks so it should be an exciting weekend.”
