MARYVILLE, Tenn. (Mar. 2) Donald piloted the new BMS Stowers Cat XR1 Rocket to a second place finish in the Frost Buster 50 at 411 Motor Speedway.
Donald qualified and started fourth on the grid. He worked his way into the second place, but couldn’t do anything with pole sitter Cory Hedgecock who led from start to finish.
“We haven’t found the sweet spot with the new Rocket yet. The first time out we were too tight and this time we were not tight enough,” said David. “We are really excited about the car and as soon as we figure exactly what it likes, look out.”
For Friday night’s practice the car was very fast.
“The car is about 200% different than what we are used to. We know that the car is really fast in the mud and we know it will be equally as good when the track gets slick. All we have to do is figure it out.
As bad as we were Donald really had his hands full. He got up on the wheel and drove the dickens out of the car. If he hadn’t there is no telling where we would have finished,” concluded David.
Next stop is the Ultimate event at North Georgia Speedway this Saturday and then the Spring Nationals Opener at Smoky Mountain the following weekend.
