MARYVILLE, Tenn. (Mar. 24) Donald and the Boys continued there early season roll with a second place finish in the Southern Nationals Bonus Race at Boyd’s Speedway.
There were some issues with the new car that was debuted Saturday night and Donald was able to make the car look better than it actually was.
“We had some problems with the new car especially with the shocks. The shocks we had to use were off of Tommy’s car and the valving was not what Donald was used to,” said David Bryant. “The only reason we finished as well as we did was Donald got up on the wheel and drove the devil out of the car. He made the car finish better than it was.”
Donald started seventh and the only car he didn’t pass on the way to a second place finish was Dale McDowell who spun and went to the pits.
“I was all over the race track trying to find where the car would run the best. I finally found that it went pretty good right against the inside wall and that’s where I put it. That’s what enabled me to get around Hiatt and take second,” grinned Donald whose only mark on the new car was some white wall paint on the driver’s side bumper.
The shocks for the new car are coming from Öhlins and will be ready to go Friday night as the team heads for Tri-County Race Track and another Southern Nationals Bonus Race Friday. On Saturday night both Donald and Tommy Kerr, who will be making his 2015 debut, will race the Ultimate event at Smoky Mountain Speedway.
