MARYVILLE, Tenn. (Mar. 10) Donald continued his hot start of the 2015 season by winning his career first Ultimate Series event at North Georgia Speedway on Saturday.

He started fourth on the grid and early in the 40-lap event he slipped back as far as eighth. On the 27th circuit he was running sixth and four laps later he took the lead and went on to take the win.

“We went with a harder tire and it took the first 25 laps for it to come in and when it did that was pretty much it,” Said David. “Donald has done really well, the car is working well and everything is clicking. Now keeping it all going is the biggest thing.”

If tires are not the most important choice a team makes at the race track it is in the top two and the night’s choice of a hard tire was not one that Donald was happy with.

“I didn’t think we were on the right tire at the start of the race. I mentioned it to David and he said he thought that harder would be better so we went with the harder compound,” said Donald. “I still wasn’t convinced especially with all the cautions early in the race, but about 25 laps into the race the tire came alive and we went to the front.

I am blessed with a great crew chief, a great team and I need to start trusting them a bit more.”

For Donald and BMS, who are off to a great start in 2015, this is the second win in the first seven races of the season and there has been only one finish out of the top 10.

This weekend, weather permitting, the team will be looking for another win or two at Smoky Mountain Speedway in the opening Old Man’s Garage Spring Nationals opener.
