MARYVILLE, Tenn. (Mar. 7) Donald added to his string of good early spring runs with a third place finish in the Ultimate opener at North Georgia Speedway Saturday night.

Donald, who set fast time and started on the pole of the 40-lap event, had a good shot at a better finish negated when a multicar pileup on lap 17 brought out the red flag and the track sealed up.

“You never know what is going to happen and our tire choice for the right rear was not the best, but when the red flag flew and the track sealed up, that killed us,” said David. “Before the red we had made up a lot of ground on leader Ownbey and were looking pretty good. After the red flag we were just hanging on.”

This was the third time out for the XR1 Rocket and it just keeps getting better and better.“We have pretty much figured out what the car needs and the car was good Saturday night. If the crew chief would have made a better choice on the right rear there is no telling how good the car would have been. We are really excited about everything except finishing third,” concluded David.
