MARYVILLE, Tenn. (Apr. 20) After driving more 1,200 miles to watch it rain Donald and the Blount Motorsport Team ended the weekend with a good run and a third place finish at Volunteer Speedway Saturday night.
With rain postponing two more Spring Nationals Races, one at Swainsboro and one at Golden Isles, the team headed back to Tennessee and Volunteer Speedway for the Clash event.
“Since the first of April we have put over 2,000 miles on the truck trying to get in two Spring National race weekends and thanks to the rain we have ended up both weekends racing at Volunteer Speedway,” said David. “Everyone looses when races rain out. The series, the tracks, and the teams, everyone looses. We are down over $1,500 just in fuel, but you have to go.”
When the truck finally stopped rolling Saturday they were in the pits at Volunteer Speedway ready to race. Donald set fast time, started on the pole, got drilled on the start, raced with leader and ultimate winner Ray Cook and ended up finishing third.
This time we had some problems with the brake system. This new car has had its share of gremlins, but I think we have gotten them under control. Donald is doing a good job and all we really need to do is get back into a good rhythm and get some momentum going our way again,” concluded Bryant.
Although the weather forecast is not all that sporty for this weekend, the team is hoping that the SAS event on Friday night and the postponed OMG Spring Nationals event on Saturday at Smoky Mountain Speedway will be just what they need to get back on track.
