MARYVILLE, Tenn. (July 26) Donald was on his way to another good run when a lapped car spun and collected the Stowers Cat sponsored Blount Motorsport Rocket at Boyd’s Speedway Monday night.
Donald set fast time, started on the outside front row and was running second to eventual race winner Brandon Overton when he was collected by a spinning lapped car. McIntosh was credited with a 13th place finish in the final rundown.
“We were in second right there with Overton when a lapped car spun in front of us. Overton missed it and we didn’t”, said David. “It didn’t hurt the car real bad, but bad enough that we were not competitive for the rest of the race.”
For Donald and the Blount Motorsports team it was the third time in seven events they have had fast time and that combined with their three consecutive wins brought out the whiners at Boyd’s.
“When you are running good it can’t be because of hard work it has to be because you are cheating. They made us use their transponder tonight instead of ours and we went out and set fast time with it,” continued David. “We spend a lot of time, effort and money to field a good competitive car. We don’t point race and we don’t putter around the bottom of the track when the fast way around might be a little rough.
We race to win and sometimes we do and some times we don’t, but no matter if we win or loose it is all on us.”
On Saturday night at Screven for race six in the Southern Nationals Mini-Series McIntosh started 16th, ran as high as fifth and ended up eight when the checkered flag fell.
Car wasn’t good. We have never been good here and I don’t know if we ever will be good here,” said David. “We will load it up and head to Rome and see if we can get it going again.”
Rome was postponed by rain.
