MARYVILLE, Tenn. (Feb. 2) Donald McIntosh took to the outside in a last lap attempt to pass leader Randy Weaver, but came up just a little bit short and had to settle for second in Saturday’s Cabin Fever event at Boyd’s Speedway.

Weaver would take the lead on the second attempt to start the race with McIntosh who started third taking second. The two would run one-two for the 40-lap event.

“With the big motor in the car, a slick race track and Weaver with a smaller motor we had a second-place race car today,” said David. “Donald was right on top of it and he almost pulled off the win on the last lap. As much as you don’t want to finish second it was a good solid start of the new season.”

Going into the new season McIntosh said as much as he would like to win 20 races, he would be happy to be running up front with a chance to win.

“We were up front and had a chance to win. It was close and I would have really liked to get him (Weaver) on the last lap, but couldn’t get it done,” said Donald. “We qualified good, ran good, didn’t tear anything up and had a shot at the win. That’s not as good as a win, but it’s not a bad way to start the new season either.

Next weekend the team heads south to Screven for a double header weekend with a Southern All Star race on Friday night and an Ultimate SE race on Saturday night.

“We haven’t had much luck at Screven so we figured we might as well go down there and take advantage of two races in two days. We’ll see if we can’t get around there better,” concluded David.
