MARYVILLE, Tenn. (Jan. 28) Blount Motorsport’s early season schedule is starting to take shape as racing moves from the West to the East. For 2014 BMS will open its season at Screven Motor Speedway in Sylvania, GA on February 7 and 8.
“We sold Billy’s car and have gotten ourselves a little behind getting the new car ready,” said Larry. “We are taking a little different approach to our early season racing this year as we are going to start at Screven with Billy in Tommy’s car and skip Florida to get ready for a busy March.”
The new car, a Rocket orange front end chassis, is well on it’s way to completion, but it would be tough getting it finished and get everything ready to go to Volusia after Screven.
“Going to Florida involves a lot of time, effort and money. You need to take two cars with everything lined up and ready to go or you are spinning your wheels,” continued David. “We looked at everything, including the March schedule, and decided it would be best if we skipped Florida this year.”
After Screven the BMS team will put the finishing touches on the new car, shake it down and take both cars to the Bama Bash at East Alabama Motor Speedway. The following week the action returns to Maryville with the two NDRL races at Smoky Mountain Speedway.
