MARYVILLE, Tenn., (Jan. 30) Donald and the Blount Motorsports team debuted their new 1XR Rocket at the Cabin Fever 40 at Boyd’s Speedway, but they were unable to enjoy the full potential of the new car because of electrical issues.
Donald had the fastest car in practice, but electrical problems saw him qualify and start 12th. On lap 17, with the electrical problems continuing, they decided that they had had enough and pulled the car into the pits. He was scored 15th in the final rundown.
“New car was fast and Donald really likes it, but there is some kind of electrical problem that messed up qualifying and then again about halfway through the race. So we decided enough was enough and put it in the trailer,” said David. “It being the first time out for the new car we were pleased and are looking forward to heading to Georgia and Florida for Speedweeks coming up in a couple of weeks.”
The next race for Donald and the Blount Motorsports Team will be the Georgia/Speedweeks opener at Golden Isles Speedway on February 10th.
“After Golden Isles last year Donald and I went down and watched some of the action in Florida,” continued David. “This year we are going to race at North Florida, Bubba Raceway Park and Volusia County Speedway and see how we do.”
