MARYVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 26) Billy and the Blount Motorsports team continued their hot streak with their fifth consecutive win, the SAS King of the Mountain, Saturday Night at Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, TN.
After setting fast time Billy piloted what he described as a near perfect car to a flag-to-flag win at the east Tennessee 4/10 mile clay oval.
“The car that they are giving me to drive is hooked up on the slick stuff. We have found a really good setup,” said Billy with a big grin. “There were a lot of cautions tonight so it didn’t hurt to be on the pole and be able to stay out front in the clean air and away from the wrecks.
I don’t want it to end, but I know the steak will end. It would be nice to win a few more before it ends.”
Tommy was involved in an incident that brought out one of the nine cautions that slowed the event. He was able to bring a damaged race car home in eighth place.
Volunteer Speedway is next on the schedule for the unsanctioned $3,000 to win Late Model portion of Championship Night at the Gap.
