MARYVILLE, Tenn. After winning three in a row and then have a three week layoff Billy and the Blount Motorsports team, although confident, couldn’t help but wonder if they would still be on a roll when they headed for Cleveland Speedway for the Grant Adcox Stars and Stripes race. No worries as Billy set fast time, led every lap and held off Ray Cook to make it four wins in a row.

“Billy, B.J. and David were not all that worried about the layoff, but I sure was,” said Larry. “With the weather costing us two weekends of racing I was really worried that we might have lost the momentum we had gained with those three consecutive wins, but they picked up right where they left off.”

Whenever a team gets on a roll everyone wants to know what they have found. What the hot team has come up with to start winning a lot of races. In the case of Blount Motorsport whatever they found wasn’t much because they have been in the hunt since leaving Florida in February. In 32 races since Florida they have won 5, finished second nine times and been out of the top 10 only twice.

“We haven’t made any big changes. A lot of tweaks, but no really big changes. David, Billy and I are all working real well together,” said Crew Chief B.J. Hillman. “What really helped were the 10 races in Ray Cook’s Southern National Series. With one race right after another we had the time to try things and we came up with a really good race car.”

Billy and Tommy will both be racing this Saturday night in the SAS King of the Mountain at Smoky Mountain Speedway.
