MARYVILLE, Tenn. (June 8) Tommy and the Blount Motorsports Team had a frustrating weekend with an over heating engine on Friday night at Tazewell and a flat tire Saturday night at Volunteer Speedway.

After finishing fourth in the first heat Tommy started 13th in the Lucas Oil Toyota of Knoxville 75 at Tazewell Speedway Friday night. The engine stared to over heat 30 laps into the event. He pitted the car in order not to do any additional damage to the engine and was scored 19th in the final rundown.

“The track was one groove and nobody was going anywhere so there was no sense in staying out and taking a chance of really hurting the motor,” said Tommy shaking his head. “It is probably better the way it worked out because if we had been up front with a chance to win I doubt we would have parked it. And that could have been real expensive.”

With back to back Lucas Oil $10,000 to win events coming to Volunteer Speedway on June 18 and 19 Tommy and the crew headed to the 4/10 mile clay oval on Saturday to get some laps in. Four laps into the feature, while running second, the right rear went flat on the Stowers Cat Rocket. After pitting Tommy came back out on the tail of the field and began working his way to the front. When the checkered flag fell he was in fourth.

This weekend Tommy and the crew will enjoy some home cooking as they race the Southern All Star event at the Mountain Raceway Park in Maryville. The next week the team will race three Lucas Oil Series event in a row. The first will be at Cleveland Speedway on Thursday night with the next two at Volunteer Speedway on Friday and Saturday night. All three events pay $10,000 to win.
