MARYVILLE, Tenn. (Apr. 20) The Blount Motorsports team had another solid outing at Smoky Mountain Speedway with Billy finishing third and Tommy ninth in the Southern All Star Spring 50.
Billy, who started tenth, moved into the top five on lap 36 of the 50-lap event. He then moved into third and was working on Ray Cook for second when the checkered flag fell. Tommy, who finished second in his heat, lined up14th on the grid and worked his way up to score a ninth place finish.
“You are not going to win them all, but here lately all we have needed was just a little something here or a little something there and we could have had a win or two,” said Billy with a grin. “We are real close and getting closer all the time.”
“You can’t print what I want to say about how I qualified, but lets just say the driver messed up. I got down low when I should have been up top in the rough stuff,” commented Tommy. “Had a real good car and if I would have qualified better I wouldn’t have used it up trying to get up to the front.”
With the SAS races in South Georgia called off this weekend the Blount Motorsports Team will head for the Late Model Showdown @ the Gap Saturday night at Volunteer Speedway. The Ultimate sanctioned event pays $10,000 to win.
