MARYVILLE, Tenn. (July 10) The good finishes and frustration continues for Blount Motorsports as victories continue to be illusive for the Maryville, TN Late Model team.

Since April Billy has raced 14 times and scored one top 10 and 12 top five finishes. Of those 12 top five finishes seven were seconds and one was a win. In that same period Tommy has raced seven times with four top fives, one top 10 finishes.

“Sure it is frustrating. Being second so much and running as good as we have been makes it even more frustrating, but it could be worse. A lot worse,” said Billy. “The team is good, the cars are good and we have been running good without tearing up a lot of equipment. The way we are running it is just a matter of time for the wins to come and it would be nice if they hurried up.”

Bridesmaid, second is the first looser etc. there are a host of ways that people look at second place finishes, but is second really all that bad.

“Everyone wants to win and nobody more that we do, but there are 22 other cars in the race that would love to finish second. Besides if you are not in the hunt you don’t have a chance to win.” said Larry. “Good qualifying runs and strong top five finishes with the car in one piece beats the devil out of crashed race cars, low finishes or a bunch of DNFs or DNSs.”

The Blount Motorsports team will take this weekend off to get everything ready to run Ray Cook’s Southern Nationals. The Southern Nationals start on Monday July 16 at Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat, VA.
