Tommy qualified 12th out of 59 cars for the Advance Thunder season opener at North Georgia Speedway. Starting 12th in the race he moved up to and finished ninth in the feature.

“It was a strong field of cars and there were a lot of good drivers in the pits when the green flag fell,” said BMS’ Larry Garner. “We qualified 12th and were only 14 one hundredths of a second off the pole. That’s how tight the field was.”

After finishing ninth Tommy felt that he might have had a seventh or even a fifth place car.

“If I had been a little more aggressive early we might have had a better finish and if we had the bigger motor in the car that could have made a difference. However I wasn’t, we didn’t and we still came out with a good finish,” grinned Tommy. “It was a good outing with the new Rayburn car and we are definately getting geared up for the season.”

This Saturday night Tommy and the BMS team will be at Cleveland Speedway for the SAS Shamrock 60 and on Sunday will be at Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, Tenn. for the second Advance Thunder event of the season.
