MARYSVILLE, Tenn. (Nov. 5) Tommy pulled along side Billy, who was leading, coming off of turn two on the white flag lap of the SRRS Triple Crown Brawl at Smoky Mountain Speedway Saturday night. He completed the pass and went on to take his career first SRRS win and his first win of the season.

Running a limited schedule this season Tommy, who admits that not racing every weekend has thrown off his rhythm, had a disappointing qualifying run and started ninth in the feature.

“Starting ninth was not where I wanted to start, but I just took my time and kept from using up the car as I moved toward the front. There was a late race restart and I passed a car on the outside and set my sights on Billy who was leading,” grinned Tommy. “I didn’t want to tip my hand and have him get all defensive on me so I never showed him my noise until the white flag lap. Then we were side-by-side down the back straight and through three and four and I was able to get him coming off four.

It was exciting for us on the track and from what I understand it was exciting for everyone in the grandstands too. It was a good night!”

Although Billy and Tommy have finished one in front of the other in numerous races this is the first time the Blount Motorsports teammates have finished first and second in a race.
