MARYVILLE, Tenn. (Sept 5) In a caution filled Southern Nationals Bonus Series event at Tazewell Speedway Donald would make a trip to the rear, come back to lead the event and while leading get caught up by spinning lapped cars. He was scored twelfth in the final rundown.
Donald would start fourth on the grid, work his way to second, got spun early and went to the rear of the field. He would work his way through the field and take the lead on lap 16. Leading the next 18 laps he would open up a commanding lead before being caught up in a wreck when two lapped cars spun in front of him.
“Great race car, driver did a good job, but not much to show for it,” said David. “Sometimes you wonder if there might be a target painted somewhere on the car.
The last thing we wanted with just three days until everything at Eldora starts on Thursday is a wrecked race car, but that is what we got. We will get it all straightened out and head to the World 100 on Wednesday.”
Thursday night at Eldora will be twin 25-lap features each paying $10,000 to win. On Friday there will be another set of $10,000 to win features. How you finish in those two races determines how you start in Saturday’s heats. The finish of Saturday’s heats will determine if and where you start the 47th Annual World 100.
