MARYVILLE, Tenn. (Apr. 23) For Billy Ogle Jr. and the Blount Motorsports team
the results from the three Spring National races this past weekend were a mixed bag that included a 16th place finish, a rain out and a third place finish.
On Thursday at 301 Speedway the engine in the primary car threw a rod and the back up car was rolled out. Starting 12th on the grid Ogle had worked his way to sixth, but tire selection sent the car backwards through the field to a sixteenth place finish.
The Friday night contest at Ponderosa Speedway was cancelled because of wet grounds. On Saturday night, still in the backup car, they started fifth and ended up finishing third.
“It was one of those up and down weekends that started out with a blown engine right off the trailer which put us in the back up car. The back up car was fine, but a wrong choice of tires kept us from a decent finish,” commented David Bryant. “On Saturday at Cleveland we started fifth and finished third which isn’t too bad, but not what we were looking for.”
With three races remaining in the Spring Nationals the team finds itself second in the points chase 30 points behind leader Steve Casebolt.
Another three race weekend for the Blount Motorsports team. They will race three World of Outlaw shows starting on Friday night at Smoky Mountain, Saturday night at Tazewell and Sunday night at Duck River.
