MARYVILLE, Tenn. (July 21) Casey is heating up on the Southern Nationals Tour as he and the BMS Team have been the fastest qualifier and finished second in the races at Toccoa Speedway and Swainsboro Raceway.
Starting on the pole at Swainsboro Casey led 47 of the 53 laps before Brandon Overton got by and took the win.
“Things are starting to click. Everything that could go wrong did go wrong in the first half of the season and now things are starting to cool down and Casey is starting to heat up,” said David. “We are communicating well, we are getting dialed in on our adjustments. We will just keep on digging.”
At Toccoa Speedway on Friday night Roberts set fast time and started on the pole. Overton started on the outside front row and won the drag race for the lead at the drop of the green flag. Roberts would shadow Overton for the entire race and settle for second.
“We are starting to run a whole lot better, the car is feeling better and coming to tracks that I have a good history isn’t a bad deal,” said Casey, “Between the weather and having everything that could go wrong, go wrong we haven’t been able to string races together. Doing these Southern Nationals Races one right after another is a grind, but it is what we needed.
In the place of the rained out race at Screven, Swainsboro has stepped up and will run a second $5,300 to win Southern Nationals feature tonight. On Sunday the tour will finish up with the four consecutive Georgia races at Rome Speedway.
